Some Words About Love

The great Sumnun ق, known as the ‘the lover’ (al-muhibb), went to Hijaz. The people of Fayd asked him: “Say some words for us.” Sumnun ق went up on the pulpit but did not find anyone who was really able to truly hear what he had to say. So he faced the chandeliers of the mosque and addressed them: “I will speak to you above Love.” The chandeliers shattered.
