About Marifa
Marifa (مَعْرِفَة) is a quiet corner of the internet for stories drawn from the lives of saints, sages and lovers of Allah ﷻ across Dar al Islam. We publish short, carefully sourced narratives that have been told and retold by the masters of the spiritual path, in the hope that they may stir the heart and remind the reader of what is real.
What we publish
Each story is brief by design. Sources include classical texts of the Sufi tradition, the discourses of the late Mawlāna Shaykh Muhammad Nāzim Ādil al-Qubrūsi al-Haqqāni ق and Mawlāna Shaykh Hishām Kabbāni ق, and translations by Shaykh Gibril Fouad Haddad ﵀ and others. The source is named at the foot of every story.
Editorial principles
- Sourced: every story cites the book, lecture or association it comes from.
- Plain: minimal commentary; the stories are meant to be read and sat with, not explained.
- Respectful of tradition: spellings, honorifics and naming conventions follow the practice of the masters and translators we draw from.
A service of Islamic Network
Marifa is one of several free, open digital services run by Islamic Network — alongside AlAdhan, AlQuran.cloud, Perennialism and others. The work is operated by Mamluk and hosted on Bahriya. Our source code lives at 1x.ax.
Everything we publish is offered freely. Our aim is simple: that this work be pleasing to our Lord, and that it remind us all of what is real in a technology-obsessed age.
